She is new to Foulk Living, but not to the senior living industry. Leslie is bringing her extensive leadership as a nursing home administrator and an assisted living community’s executive director, as she heads up the Foulk Living team. Leslie said what she likes best about working in senior living, is the ability to help others, and make a positive impact on their overall care experience. In her new role, Leslie will direct day-to-day operations, ensure the highest level of resident services and care, oversee management of business-related activity, and work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare providers. Leslie said she is looking forward to getting to know the residents, families, and team members at Foulk, as well as continuing to grow and develop the community to its highest standards.
Janet Belles inspires confidence and pride. As the Director of Nursing at Foulk for more than three years, and Director of Resident Services prior to that, she manages all aspects of skilled care, assisted living, and memory care for the community. Describing herself as “dedicated,” Janet is also highly qualified, having earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Wound Care Certification. She is also an Infection Preventionist. Janet said that she values her team at Foulk and loves the residents for whom she cares.
Tirus, who has been with Foulk Living for ten years, has been the Director of Nursing in healthcare for the past year. Before that, he was the Evening Supervisor, followed by the MDS Coordinator and Scheduler. Previously, as the ADON, he was responsible for infection control, training and staff education, and clinical management. Tirus has an impressive background. He has his Bachelor of Science in Nursing and has also completed a Post-Bachelor Premedical Program. Additionally, Tirus was a chemical and biological weapons specialist with the U.S. Army. Tirus was recently selected as Delaware's representative of Future Leaders of Long-Term Care in America through American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL).
A nurse for over 20 years, Jamie has devoted her career to serving seniors. As the Regional Nurse Liaison, Jamie works with Foulk Living and Shipley Living in Wilmington and Millcroft Living in Newark. In her role, Jamie oversees the admission of residents to the community. “I meet with residents and their families to review their clinical needs. It’s an important responsibility, and I like that I am the face of the community,” she said. As she reviews clinical information, an essential goal of hers is to ensure that each resident receives the appropriate level of care. Jamie enjoys walking into each of the communities that she oversees. “It’s a welcoming feeling when you walk in. Everyone really cares about their residents,” she said.
New to Foulk Living, Nana has more than 15 years of experience in senior living. Her responsibilities at Foulk include direct sales, supporting the marketing team’s efforts, and managing lead generation, referral development, and events. Nana said she was drawn to the community because of the “staff, residents, and compassionate, caring culture.” Describing herself as a “firm believer in adding value to others,” Nana added, “I like being able to create lasting experiences and bonds in the warm and welcoming environment.”
Rebecca has more than 30 years of experience working with older adults, a population about whom she is passionate. At Foulk Living, working with and supporting residents and their families is a big part of her role as Director of Admissions, particularly as they make the transition from the hospital. With a focus on short-term rehab, Rebecca enjoys seeing residents gaining strength so that they’re able to return home and to their communities. As Director of Social Services, she advocates for residents, answering questions and connecting them with essential resources. Rebecca said she was drawn to Foulk Living because of their strong reputation for prioritizing highly personalized care for its residents.
Gifty Nyinaku, also known as Akoss, is the Director of Resident Care for Assisted Living at Foulk Living
Gifty began her career in nursing before coming to the U.S. from Ghana 25 years ago. Through the years, she’s worked in hospitals, correctional facilities, home care, and senior living.
In her current role, she is responsible for overseeing compliance with quality assessment and assurance, helps with admission, orientation and discharge of residents, schedules and chairs care conferences, and oversees staff recruitment, hiring, development, supervising, scheduling, and more.
Gifty enjoys working with seniors and helping meet and exceed their needs.
Susan has been ensuring the nutritional wellbeing of the healthcare residents at Foulk Living/Shipley Living for ten years. The registered and licensed dietician monitors residents for their healthcare needs and making appropriate nutritional recommendations while meeting state requirements. She attends care plan meetings and collaborates with residents and their families. In addition to meeting nutritional requirements, it’s important to Susan that she is also meeting the dietary preferences of the residents. “I work with the interdisciplinary team in making the best decisions for our residents to assure the best quality of life possible,” she said. “I consider myself organized and willing to share and help implement any ideas that will promote a better life for our residents.”
Karen serves as Foulk Living’s Director of Rehab along with HealthPro Heritage. Karen graduated with her undergraduate degree from Shippensburg University and Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Philadelphia University. She has been working in continuing care for over 25 years and specifically at Foulk Living since March 2023. She and her staff develop an individualized rehabilitation plan based on each resident’s need, while providing a warm and comfortable setting for their therapy.
Amy oversees the clinical area of the healthcare center including day to day care of our seniors to nursing scheduling as well as infection prevention/control, and staff education and trainings. While she’s only been at Foulk Living for just over a year, she was a registered nurse for 15 years that were always spent working with seniors. She’s been in a variety of different nursing roles; staff nurse, shift supervisor, staff development, quality assurance, ADON, and unit manager. Amy is very knowledgeable in different aspects of senior care from short-term rehab to long-term care and everything in between. I enjoy assisting seniors in all levels of care to ensure all their needs are met.
Sam Wansor has spent almost half his life working at Foulk. Now 30-years old, he began working in the kitchen shortly after high school, doing “whatever it was they needed.” Sam then moved to the Maintenance Department. While working, Sam joined the Marine Corps Reserve, where he attended engineering school. The skills he learned there, he said, have been invaluable to his career at Foulk. Now, as Director of Plant Operations, Sam oversees mechanics, security, housekeeping, and transportation. He said he has an outstanding crew. Some of the residents at Foulk have been there long enough to enjoy watching him grow. Sam said, “And I’ve been able to help them age. It’s a double rewarding situation.”
David Shea is new with Foulk but brings more than 20 years of experience in senior living to the table. As the Director of Food and Beverage, David oversees the entire food and beverage department at the senior living community. With an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts from the Art Institute of Philadelphia, David said he started working as a dishwasher in high school and worked his way up. Describing himself as “level-headed,” David said that his favorite aspect of the job is helping the residents.
With more than 16 years of experience in healthcare, Herlinda (Linda) has worked in various roles, including dietary aide, activities assistant/CNA, and now, activities director. In her current role as Life Enrichment Director, Linda plans and coordinates activities and community events for the residents of Foulk Living. She also oversees the staff that support these activities and fun events. Linda taps into all of her skills and creativity to make these events special for the residents of Foulk Living. She said she especially enjoys working one-on-one with residents to get to know them and understand what makes them happy. Linda said she likes knowing that she is helping residents live a happy, engaging, and meaningful life.
As the Health & Wellness Navigator at Foulk Living, Rose is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the lives of residents at Foulk Living. Previously to this role, Rose was an LPN with more than eight years of experience in memory care. Rose currently evaluates the residents' physical, emotional and social needs and coordinates health education programs focusing on preventative care and healthy living. She guides residents and family members or caregivers through a successful health and wellness transition. Describing herself as being “caring, dependable and approachable,” Rose said she likes interacting with the residents and helping them resolve their needs.
Mary, known as Renee, has been the Executive Chef at Foulk Living for two years. This is her first foray into senior living, having previously worked as the chef at the Philadelphia Convention Center. Renee, who is chef-certified, has a teaching degree, certification in American bistro and is ServSafe trained. In her current role at Foulk, she oversees the kitchen operations and staff, creates menus, manages scheduling, inventory control, and sanitation, and also creates the menus for special events. Renee, who loves helping the residents, describes herself as being full of energy, passionate and striving to excel.
With impressive commitment and dedication, Trace Weaver has worked with Foulk Living and sister community Shipley Living since 1990. She started her career in the dietary department during high school, and then progressed through office positions including administrative assistant, business office assistant and business office manager. Working at the two communities, she said, was a ‘family affair” as her grandfather worked as an overnight floor tech and her mother worked in the business office. Tracey said she shares her mother’s and grandfather’s passion for serving older adults. “I love working with seniors. They have a lot to teach us,” she said.
Melody (Mel) Black has been part of the Foulk team since 2020. As the Human Resources Manager, Mel is responsible for pre-employment, new hires, and current employee processes. These include working with the community’s Human Resources Information System (HSIS), maintaining employee files and payroll, handling leaves of absence, and more. She said her favorite part of the job is “building a rapport with the new hires that come in and being a person that the employees can come to with questions or concerns.”
He’s responsible for keeping the building squeaky clean. Leroy Pressey has worked at Foulk for more than 10 years, maintaining cleanliness in the common areas, stairways, and residents’ apartments, doing laundry, and ordering housekeeping supplies. Describing himself as “easy to get along with,” Leroy said his favorite part of working in senior living is helping the residents.
