Growing up in a single-parent household, Rebecca Koreck’s grandmother helped raise her. She also enjoyed spending time and getting to know her great grandparents, other older family members and members of her church.

Those early experiences were influential for Koreck and led her to a 30-year career working with older adults.  She is proud to announce her new role as Director of Admissions and Social Services at the Health Center at Foulk Living, a continuing care rental retirement community in Wilmington, Delaware.

“I’ve always enjoyed older adults, and working with them was kind of a natural transition for me,” says Koreck, whose studies in college also prepared her for her new role. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in social work.

Deciding to join Foulk Living was not a hard decision for Koreck, who, because of her experience in the field, had already heard about how the community prioritizes providing highly personalized care for its residents.

“It’s a very warm community,” she says. “It has a great reputation. The staff and the staff-to-resident ratios are  amazing.”

“We have a lot of family involvement,” she adds. “It’s encouraged.”

Working with the residents and their families will be a big part of her role as Director of Admissions. She supports residents and their families, particularly as they make the transition from the hospital, which can be a stressful time.

“I will be working with residents and their families to make sure the resident is situated, settled and feel comfortable and cared for,” she says.

Foulk Living provides levels of care suited to each resident’s particular needs, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and short-term rehab.

Koreck’s focus will be on short-term rehab, where she looks forward to seeing “residents getting stronger and able to go back home and to their communities.”

In her role as Director of Social Services, she says she will work to be an advocate for residents to answer questions, connect them with appropriate resources or help through any challenges they face.

Serving in dual roles, Koreck says the best part of her job is working with older adults who have so much to give.

“I love the residents. I love getting to know and spend time with them. They have so much wisdom to share,” she says.
