Foulk Living is among the first to introduce the innovative Tovertafel system to their residents in memory care.

“Tovertafel means ‘magic table’ in Dutch, and magic is exactly what our technology delivers to our residents with cognitive challenges and their care providers,” says Leslie Johnson, Executive Director of Foulk Living. The senior living community in Wilmington is among the first to introduce the innovative Tovertafel system to their residents in memory care.

“The Tovertafel is part of the tech-based programming we are using to meet the social, intellectual, physical and emotional dimensions of our community’s health and wellness program for memory care,” says Johnson.

She explains, “The Tovertafel projects a series of games that range in the level of difficulty. It helps residents develop or maintain cognitive skills.” The games are composed of light animations that react to hand and arm movements when projected onto a table. “This stimulates brain activity by engaging the residents in fun, playful activities while also enhancing physical and social activity.”

Johnson says that they have already witnessed the Tovertafel’s benefits. “We have seen improvement in our residents’ interactions with one another and improvement in their mood and overall emotional state while they are participating in the Tovertafel activities. It stimulates positive interaction between residents, their peers, family members and caregivers.” She adds that the system can also be used individually.

Foulk Living is managed by Life Care Services®, An LCS® Company. The Tovertafel supports Heartfelt Connections – A Memory Care Program, An LCS Signature Experience. “We feel so fortunate that we have access to this highly specialized programming and technology through LCS,” says Johnson.
